Grå ullvantar/ grey mittens

Det börjar bli kallt ute och då får jag alltid lust att sticka värmande plagg. Dessa vantar i lovikastil ska dekoreras med broderade blommor efter önskemål.

When the temperature drops and it starts to snow, we had the first snow of the year yesterday, I feel the urge to knit warm socks and mittens. I started knitting the grey mittens yesterday and I must say I like a quick projekt now and then. Its perfekt for my youngest because she doesnt have the best record when it comes to keeping  track of her things.

Ser fram emot att ha höstlov ihop med mina barn och inte behöva stå upp och dra på jobb på en hel vecka. Jag är inte direkt den som hoppar ur sängen på mornarna. :)

The coming week I' m free from work and are spending the week together with my kids who are on school break and are free to. Yey! One whole week were we can sleep in and have fun. Hedvig wants me to teach her how to read crochet instruktions so she can make amigurumi. Well It'll be interesting to se who will lose patience first...

Efter diskussioner med barna om vilken kantfärg de kunde enas om blev det det grönprickiga. Kantningen var inte lika rolig så den fick jag göra själv. Vi har redan börjat planera nästa gemensamma projekt....

Jag kan verkligen behöva en del mer träning när det gäller att quilta på maskin men är ganska näjd med resultatet ialla fall.

After some discussions with the kids, were they refused each others first choices, they finally settledfor de green dotted fabric for the border. Sewing on the binding was a job they gladely gave me. :)  
We had so much fun doing this project  that we've already begun to plan the next...
I could really use some more practice when it comes to quilting but I´m pleased with the resoults anyway.



Jag postar en bild när vädret tillåter utomhusfotografering och när täcket är tvättat. Det blir alltid mycket finare efter en tvätt tycker jag.

The rainy weather outside doesn´t really invite me to take pictures and the lighting inside isn´t so good so I´ll post a picture later when the weather is better and when the quilt is washed.



Har också hunnit sticka en babymössa till insamlingen sticka och skicka.

Have also made one more ting for the collection of knitted babyclothes to be sent to charity.

halvfärdigt/ WIP

Har quiltat färdigt det lilla gulorangea täcket men klarar inte helt av att bestämma kantfärgen. Yngsta dottern tycker rosa, min man orange och äldsta dottern tyckte om den smalrandiga svartvita och själv funderar jag på (lime)grön med vita  prickar......

 I've finished the quilting but can't deside on the border. The whole family have different oppinions and that doesn't really help with the desisionmaking process...




Jag har även börjat sticka små babyplagg till insamlingen sticka och skicka. Eftersom de främst ska skickas till varma länder har jag valt Tilda av svartafåret ett bomull/akryl garn. Om jag inte skulle sticka i ull till mina barn är det nog det garnet jag skulle välja eftersom det är mjukt men inte känns för syntetiskt. Insamlingen håller på till 1 dec så jag får väl se vad jag hinner med.

Started knitting simple babyclothes for charity. Some Swedish organisations are joining forces to collect knitted babyclothes. The clothes are to be handed out  to mothers and their newborn babies in Zambia. These gift help in getting the mothers to the hospital and a safer delivery.

röda halvvantar/ red halfgloves

Efter att ha stickat de bruna halvvantarna i jak tänkte jag att jag borde använda mönstret till till att göra ett par lite stadigare att använda till vardags. När jag tittade lite bland mina garner hittade jag en röd härva av egenspunnet och kedjetvinnat garn. Kom fram till att den härligt höströda färgen passade perfekt nu.


Last week after making the brown jak halfgloves I desided to try this design but using a slightly sturdier yarn. After going through my yarn stash I found this beautiful coloured  red yarn I spun and navajoplyed a while ago. I desided it was perfekt for this projekt. 

Jag har också bestämt hur jag ska sy ihop de små sexkanterna. Jag applikerar dem på ett tygstycke istället för att sy alla mellanbitar också. Går lite fortare och blir inte fullt lika pilligt. Märkte också att det här limmet som fungerar helt utmärkt på större bitar gjorde det lite jobbigare när man skulle lossa pappret från de här små. Så kanske jag ska prova att tråckla med tråd eller använda vattenlösligt papper...                                                                                    I have desided on the layout for these small hexagons. Since I noticed it was alot harder to remov the paper from these tiny pieces I desided to simply applique them on a piece of fabric instead of piecing hexies for the background to. I have to find another way of making these more simple, perhaps water soulable paper or simply use ordinary basting stitches......

Mini hexagoner/ learning to sew mini hexies

Började fundera på hur små sexkanter jag kan sy. Tyckte ju först att mina 1/2inch var väldigt små. Fick ett infall och tog fram de papper med 1/4inch sexkanter som jag har när jag skissar på layoutideer.

I started to wonder how small hexagon flowers I could make. I tought the 1/2 inch was small. Then I desided to try 1/4 inch.






 Efter lite funderingar kring hur jag skulle få fast tyget runt så tog jag fram min sewline penna (lim för tråckling). Genom att dutta på lim i kanterna och sen placera mallen på gick det hyfsat smidigt. Sen är det bara att vika in en sida i taget.

Had to do some thinking and then try a little. I found out that I had no problems at all making these and they are just as addictive as the regular sized ones. By gluing the edges of the hexie first and then place the paper ontop and fold  over the fabric over it was a real treat making them.

Här visar jag exempel på de små hexagonerna jag håller på med och de pyttesmå som jag just börjat med.

Here for comparison is some examples of the 1/2 inch and one tiny 1/4 inch.

Tyckte att de var så söta att jag valde att göra ett litet halsband av två st hexagoner. För att få rätt tyngd så har jag sytt in ett mynt i mitten.

After I made two I made a pendant out of them by placing them togheter right sides out and stiched the edges. I put a coin in there to to make it hang ok. I really like this neklace!







 Det var så roligt att jag snabbt sytt upp flera stycken. Så det blir nog ett mini täcke till!

It was so easy and so much fun i started making more so I guess I will make a tiny hexagon quilt as well. I just have to figure out the design.
